Sally Crochet Circle Bag Free Pattern

Crochet circle bag by Yarnpunzel

I’m excited to share this free pattern with you guys! A crochet circle bag you can use to tote stuff around this summer.

The Sally Crochet Circle Bag is my first accessory here at Yarnpunzel. I was flexing on my new crochet skill which is making a completely round circle. One of my first designs from back in 2020 when I rediscovered crochet. Read more about me HERE

Most crochet “circles” are actually hexagons. This is created by increasing at the same spot six times every round. To make a perfectly round crochet circle you’d have to stagger your increases every round so none are stacked on the other.

This crochet pattern is a teaching moment and meant for crochet beginners which is why I offered this as a free pattern.

In addition to learning how to make a completely round circle, you’ll also be learning how to make a magic loop, work in unjoined rounds called a spiral and also how to work flat, which means working in rows and turning after each row.

After this you might be ready to make your first garment, a tank with a step-by-step video tutorial, Mia Everyday Tank Top Crochet Pattern

Let’s dip our feet in.

OUTER EDGE BAND

Make a slip knot, ch 15

Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc across row. (14 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc across row.

Rep row 2 until measures 28″/70cm

JOINING

To begin joining, place outer edge band around one circle panel. With RS of circle facing up, sc the edge of the circle together with the band all the way around till the end of the band. Rep for the other circle panel.

You can now sew in a lining, I strongly recommend this to prevent your bag from stretching out of shape with wear especially if you’ll be using it tote around stuff!

Sew in the D-rings on either sides of the edge band.

Clasp the leather strap unto the rings and your crochet circle bag is finally ready!
