Bumbles Socks

Description

Not all crochet socks are created equal. Bumbles is designed from the ground up for fit, stretch, and longevity — worked in a highly elastic stitch pattern that can stretch to over 1.75 times its unstretched width without losing its shape. The branch-like front detail makes every pair feel like a small work of art.

Construction

Each sock is crocheted flat in one piece. Short rows shape the toe and centre-front detail, while increases and decreases shape the heel naturally. The sock is seamed at the sides and toe to finish.

Four video tutorials are included to guide you through the short rows and special techniques — all linked within the pattern.

Sizes

Size 1 · 5–13 years · 7–8.75 in foot length
Size 2 · Adult Female · 8.75–10.6 in foot length

Sizing is based on total foot length. Foot circumference is not a factor in size selection — the stitch pattern stretches generously to fit.

Materials

— Light fingering weight yarn
— 3mm and 3.5mm crochet hooks
— Stitch markers
— Tapestry needle

Yarn used in sample: Yeye Wool 100% Acrylic Light Fingering Weight in white. Any light fingering weight yarn may be substituted — gauge is what matters.

A note on yarn: plant fibre yarns and blends with more than 25% plant fibre content are not recommended, as plant fibres do not recover well after stretching.

Gauge

28 sts and 28 rows in (slst in 1 st, hdc in 1 st) pattern using a 3mm hook. The stitch pattern is stretchy — as long as your stitch gauge is met with a gentle stretch, you are good to go.
